Latin for a person that have completed the doctoral grade of law. It supersedes the BA of law in the US, but usually the first professional level in law since BA in law is rare in the US. Thanks narzos

Here in Europe, it describes the highest academic level in law.

/msg me if this is wrong. I'm not that familiar with the education system in the US.
