He of the disaster movie and sci-fi series fame.

Allen, who started out as an Academy Award-winning documentarian, produced some of the best and worst of 60's and 70's science fiction and disaster films, including The Swarm, The Towering Inferno, and the classic The Poseidon Adventure. He was also the creator of television series of varying quality, from Lost in Space and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea to The Time Tunnel.

Allen died in 1991.
