An adverbial phrase which, when used by most people, introduces an interesting fact that deals directly with the topic already being discussed. For example:

"Boy, those sure are some nice boots John has, aren't they?"
"Yeah. Interestingly enough, he found them in the sewer."


More appropriate transition phrases include: "by the way", "anyway", and "on an unrelated note."
