Model: TCY10 (Black) or TCY15 (Sparkle Red or Sparkle Purple)
Ibanez heralded their thinline acoustic model as "An acoustic guitar with an electric's looks." An acoustic/eletric model (without the famous fishman pickup system, though, just a cheap knockoff), the guitar has 22 frets. The double-cutaway body gives decent access to the higher frets, although the top cutaway looks more like a thin wedge than a curve and isn't incredebly helpful.
The neck is thin, like a Fender Stratocaster's, and the tuners are chrome. All models have a cream binding on the body and neck (not the headstock). The body is thin-line, like an Ovation Celebrity but the back is flat instead of curved. The body is mahogany and the top is spruce, something rare for an inexpensive model like this one. The neck is also mahogany.
The pickup is a standard transducer, under the bridge. Electronics controls are run-of-the-mill bass, treble, and volume adjustments (strangely with a button that would appear to be a mid boost). The bridge and nut are made of plastic and, if one plans on buying this guitar for regular use, will probably need to be replaced. The bridge pins are made of similar material.
Overall, the Talman Acoustic/Electric is a decent guitar for the money (priced anywhere between $200 and $300 American). It rivals similar models in its category such as Fender's Stratocoustic and Telecoustic. It does not, however, beat out any Ovation model in playing. If one is looking for a similar instrument with an all-wood body and a flat back, however, then this is definitely the route to take.
