In Gypsy mythology, God baked the first men and women in an oven. Some, however, were kept too long in the oven and they turned out dark: the black race. The second time God opened the oven door too soon and the baking was not quite ready: the white race. The third time God produced images baked properly to the right color: the Indians, ancestors of the Gypsies.
