The first book in Lois McMaster Bujold's Miles Vorkosigan series. This book is set approximately 200 years before Miles is born. It deals with the quaddies, genetically modified people with four arms, who have been created by the company GalTech and are being used as slaves in space, and their struggle to get away and build a free society.
