The largest Lutheran entity in North America, consisting of thousands of churches across the USA, as well as a few overseas. Formed in 1989 from the merger of the old LCA, ELC, and a few smaller, ethnically-oriented Lutheran churches, its headquarters are in Chicago, Illinois.
