Ingredients:
1 cup chopped
nuts
1 cup white
sugar
1/2 cup
butter
3 teaspoons
water
Instructions
Put nuts into bottom of
square
pan.
Turn stove to top heat. In heavy
skillet
put water, sugar, butter. Stir constantly with a
wooden spoon
until it is the color of
peanut brittle
. If you do not stir constantly, it will
scorch
. The timing is very important, all at once it will go from not done (carmalized) to done, and then very quickly to over-done. Pay attention!
Remove from
heat
immediately and pour over nuts. It will get hard as it cools, so you must have the pan of nuts ready.
Cool 5 minutes and sprinkle with
chocolate chips
. The chocolate will melt, then use the back of a spoon to spread the chocolate over the top.
Enjoy, particularly at Christmas time.
