A Dynamic Hose Configuration Protocol topic was included in the help files which came with the Microsoft operating system Windows NT 4.0, Service Pack 1. The body of the topic had nothing to do with hoses or the niceties of their configuration, instead focussing on Microsoft's implementaton of Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, or DHCP in the server "flavour" of the operating system.
On one hand, this was probably merely a typographical error. On the other hand, it may have been a deliberate prank. The gripping hand is that the error made it past Microsoft's quality control, and continues to amuse those who've seen it.
