Someone whose
habits we find
deplorable, and maybe some of their
views but who has nonetheless made a great contribution to
pushing back the boundaries of ignorance.
One example is sexist men, usually a product of their time, who are otherwise extremely cool. Example: Robert Heinlein
Others are geniuses because they challenge our views of what is allowed. Example: Marquis de Sade.
