Cut his teeth as the drummer for long-running Sydney pop group the Cannanes for quite a number of years. Also a member of various classic and not-so-classic shambolic pop combos such as Crabstick, Blairmailer and (most recently) Huon.
David has written for literally dozens of music publications around the world, including a stint editing the Australian teen pop magazines Smash Hits and Hit Songwords. Also introduced Everett True to Beat Happening, by Everett's admission.
He also wrote the definitive (well, only) biography of the Go Betweens.
