Curufin was the fifth of the Sons of Fëanor and the father of Celebrimor who also swore the Oath along with his brothers. He lived with his brother Celegorm, guarding Himlad and sharing in his wealthy trade with the dwarves. He was slain along with his brothers by Dior in attacking Menegroth to obtain the Silmarils kept there.

Curufin inherited to greatest part of his father's skill and his son Celebrimbor became the greatest of the jewel-smiths of Eregion. He was also a good horseman,
