The ability of matter to adopt a certain magnetic polarity increases with the temperature of the material. For instance, hot metal can be magnetized more easily than cold metal. Eventually, there is a certain temperature at which the material can be instantly magnetized by a surrounding magnetic field. This temperature is different for each material and it is known as the Curie point of the material.
