Clatsop County is a county located in Oregon. It is in the extreme northwest part of the state, next to the Pacific Ocean, and the mouth of the Columbia River. The county seat and largest city is Astoria, the oldest American settlement west of the Rocky Mountains. Other cities include Warrenton, an adjoining town next to Astoria, and the resort communities of Cannon Beach and Seaside. Although most of the county's population of around 40,000 lives close to the ocean, the majority of the county's area is in the heavily forested Oregon Coast Range.

The early history of the county was focused around Astoria, which was an important early seaport. Fishing on the coast, and logging inland were both important early drivers of the county's economy. (As well as some farming and ranching). Those are still important sectors of the economy, but tourism is important, both for the natural beauty of places like Cannon Beach and for the historical interest of Astoria. Several movies have also been shot in Astoria, including Kindergarten Cop and The Goonies.
