Novella (2000) by science fiction author Robert Sheckley - a series of interior monologues from the point of view of the residents of the (classical Greek) underworld. Exasperated with publishers, Sheckley decided to self-publish the work at cost, initially on the basis of mailing him enough money to photocopy, bind and post it.
