A forgotten American icon from the 1960's. Barris created The Newlywed Game, The Dating Game, and The Gong Show; he also had a fluke songwriting success, with Freddie Cannon's "Palisades Park". Barris' TV ventures showed absolute contempt for the industry and the audience, resulting in shows that were a hoot. Fave moment: on his short-lived variety show, guest George Carlin did a stand-up that consisted of him struggling to say something; he never did.
