A specialized public high school in Albuquerque. Students are bussed there from all over the district, to take various classes that there is a district-wide demand for, but not enough demand at a given school to warrant hiring multiple teachers.

An interesting range of classes are available there; or at least were available when I was going there, back in the day. They included (but were not limited to):

• Varying levels of Computer Science (Just programming, really)
• AP Calculus
• Japanese (Really; in New Mexico, of all places. 5 days a week, 2.5 hours a day of Japanese. And people wonder where I got it.)
• Chinese (Amazing.)
• Aviation (They even had an instrument simulator in the classroom.)
• Electronics
• Welding (And some other trade classes; I don't exactly remember)
• Cosmetology (I am not making this up)

And these were all free. Even homeschoolers could take classes there. Quite a neat school, really. Except when they confiscated my hat. I hated that.

Oh, and until recently, the CEC had the only planetarium in the city. Bizarre.
