Note that the version of California Stars as recorded by Billy Bragg and Wilco on the album Mermaid Avenue is not at concert pitch. Since someone messed with the tape speed, you will either have to detune flat to play along with the album, or resample the AIFF off the CD to a higher pitch. I resampled the AIFF at 44.430 KHz (instead of the 44.100 KHz CD rate), and this appears to move the A from the song back to 440 Hz.
It is played with a capo at the second fret in the chord progression A E D, by playing the G D C chord forms.
Don't forget to pinky twiddle the G string 5-4-2 during the D chord form; you'll sound just like the song in no time!
