More than the trusty KnR tome (The C Programming Language), this book by Samuel P Harbison and Guy L Steele serves as a reference to the language's finer points. (Yes, it has some.) Where KnR give a chatty tutorial on how to program, and how to do it in C, this book just tells you what the compiler expects. Which can be very, very useful.
