Charismatic actor best known for his role as Willy Loman in a Broadway revival of Death of a Salesman. Dustin Hoffman played Loman as a quiet, sunken, hollow character; Dennehy plays the role of Loman with the perfect mix of bluster and fear, shifting in a second from shallow, naive optimism to blind rage. With unfocused eyes and a forced smile, Dennehy establishes Loman as a decent man who's a "dime a dozen," neither skilled enough nor smart enough to avoid his fate.

Dennehy has also appeared in the following movies and TV shows. In spite of his Loman role, he seems to enjoy playing bad guys and murderers (he's played Jack Reed (whoever that is) no less than six times).

Editor's note: Brian Dennehy died on April 15, 2020 of cardiac arrest while hospitalized for sepsis, aged 81.
