Andy Williams did the vocals to this John Barry tune, which won an Academy Award, as did Barry's score to the movie of the same name.

The 1966 movie, directed by James Hill, was a dramatization of Joy Adamson's bestselling book from 1960, her account of how she and her game warden husband raised and then trained a lion cub, Elsa, in Kenya for three years, before returning it to the wild. Virginia McKenna played Adamson in the movie, and was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance. Adamson wrote two sequels, Living Free and Forever Free.
