The Bolder Boulder is a 10-kilometer race held on Memorial Day in Boulder, Colorado. It is one of the ten most popular races in the world, with 40524 finishers in the year 2000. The race attracts a field of elite professional runners and wheelchair racers.

The race starts in northeast Boulder, winds through several neighborhoods and finishes with a steep hill before entering the University of Colorado football stadium, where runners are greeted by the cheers of thousands of spectators.

• 1979: First race, with over 2700 participants. Founded by Steve Bosley, President of The Bank of Boulder, at the suggestion of Olympic Gold Medalist (in the marathon in 1972) Frank Shorter.
• 1981: Finish line moved to inside the University of Colorado's Folsom Stadium.
• 1984: First year of the wave start. Runners start the race in staggered groups based on their projected finish times.

This wonderful race is responsible for getting me hooked on running in my adulthood.
