A series of B-movie comedies, mainly with Frankie Avalon and ex-Mouseketeers diva Annette Funicello. It showed, however airbrushedly, the (white, bourgeois) teenculture of mid-60s California. Beach Party was the original (see: Beach Party movies), and it inspired a whole genre, with films like Beach Ball, etc., with gurls in bikinis, surfing, surf music (Dick Dale, Jan and Dean...), and guest appearances by unsurf-music stars.
