This is the genus designation of two species of new-world animals, B. astutus (the North American cacomistle or ringtailed cat) and B. sumichrasti (the southern cacomistle, very similar but its range extends much further into Central America).

Note that, in recent years, animal experts seem to be tending to use the common name ringtail for the B. astutus species and cacomistle (or cacomixtle) to specifically designate B. sumichrasti. Commonly, however, both species get called by both names.
