Bündnis90/Die Grünen (
The Greens) are one of the
major parties in Germany.
The roots of this party lie in the Cold War, where a peace-movement demanded the total abolishment of weapons. They had a very serious dilemma during the Kosovo war. As part of the coalition, they had to support the NATO strikes on yugoslavia.
Beside of Peace Policy, radical pro-environment policy is a very important point. (And has become their major political goal today).
Typical for the greens is their strict Anti-Nuclear course. They promised to switch off the Nuclear Power plant in Germany ASAP. Now they realize that it is not as easy they thought...
