AASHTO is a coalition of the Departments of Transportation of the United States and each of the 50 states. It is responsible for assigning highway numbers & managing other standards governing the U.S. Interstate Highway System and the U.S. Route System. (Formerly known as the American Association of State Highway Officials or AASHO.)
