The Arena Football League has attempted to take over this acronym, with the introduction of the arenafootball2 league and the necessity to differentiate between pseudo-football (as played in the upper arenaball league) and really bad pseudo-football (as played in af2).

AFL is short for Alpha Flight 1970. It was originally a German C64 group, but in the end of the eighties they also managed to get very famous in the Amiga scene. Although they released a lot of cracks and demos, their diskmag 'Cracker Journal' is what they were most recognized for on Amiga.
