A Few Good Men is a dramatic legal-thriller movie released in 1992, directed by Rob Reiner, starring Tom Cruise, Demi Moore, and Jack Nicholson. It has a predictable but outstandingly well-played storyline involving a military murder in the Marine Corps.

It is one of my favorite movies, and one of the best movies out. Tom Cruise, the typical American young blood, plays a hotshot cocky lawyer defending two marines accused of murder, with advisors played by Demi Moore and Jack Nicholson. As it continues, the characters make some important but predictable, typically American propaganda judgements ethical stances.

Often it is well known for its memorable scenes, including:
  • Col. Jessup - "THE TRUTH?! YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!"
  • The code - Unit, Corps, God, Country
  • Tom Cruise - "DID YOU OR DID YOU NOT ORDER THE CODE RED?"
  • Code red - Marine disciplinary order.

A Few Good Men was by no means an intellectually oustanding or idea challenging movie, but nevertheless I'm always a sucker for the predictable true-blue American propaganda movies - this one was great. Probably my favorite Cruise film.
Jack Nicholson didn't play an advisor in the movie - he played colonel Jessup, aka the bad guy. Tom Cruise's two advisors were Demi Moore and Kevin Pollak.

Other famous names that appeared in this movie include:

This is one of my dad's favourite movies - anything with tanks, guns, submarines or intrigue has him rapt for hours. His other favourites are Men of Honor and Crimson Tide. Hrmph, go figure.
