Known as McKee Baking Company before 1991, the McKee Foods Corporation sells Little Debbie snack cakes and Sunbelt granola products.
McKee's was started by O.D. and Ruth McKee in 1934. "Little Debbie" is their granddaughter, who is, needless to say, not little any longer. McKee's is still privately owned by members of the McKee family.
Since 1957 McKee has been based in Collegedale, Tennesssee. Three of its plants are in the area (two by the university and one down the road in Apison). The other two plants are in Gentry, Arkansas and Stuarts Draft, Virginia.
McKee plants do not run on the Sabbath--that is, the shifts that would work from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday do not run.
Yes, Muke works at McKee's. He is a palletizer on line 201.
