An obscure obsession, perhaps, but there's something
irresistably entertaining about
chairs placed halfway
up walls. I remember as a young child seeing a cottage
with a small child's
rocking chair placed halfway up
its wall. I was fascinated. Of course, that chair was
probably purely ornamental.
The canonical, and in my opinion, best, instantiation of
this phenomenon is Liam Gallagher in the UK version of
the video to Oasis' "Live Forever" (the one where they
bury the drummer). Liam, sat arrogantly halfway up a
wall pouts at us through his sunglasses.
Pure class.
Alas, I have been unable to find any scans of chairs
halfway up walls. It is the first thing I've searched
for on the internet and failed to find.
