The
Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference, CVAC, is a
NCAA Div. II conference. It was formed in
1938 as the
Old North State Conference and only included
North Carolina schools. Later when the first
South Carolina school was added it became the
Carolinas Conference. And finally the CVAC in
1994 when the first Virginia school was added. The conference sponsors many sports including men's and women's
basketball, men's and women's
soccer,
volleyball,
cross-country,
baseball,
softball,
tennis, and
golf. The winner of this conference in both men's and women's
basketball gets an automatic qualification fo the
NCAA Division II tournament.
