Spellevator for the Apple II, published by MECC (now a
division of Mattel's The Learning Company).

You control a dust puppy (* on the screen shot)
who looks a bit like the one from User Friendly. You are
chased by several vacuum cleaners with different AIs.
The goal is to grab all the letters and exit through the
upper left corner. You can pass through an unoccupied elevator (some vacuum cleaners use elevators also) by correctly answering a spelling or vocabulary question.
Once you complete a level, you can get a bonus by correctly
unscrambling the letters you grabbed into a word (in this case, definitely).
Spellevator had a utility on the disk's flipside that let a user create a word list and save it to any ProDOSTM formatted floppy.
