Formerly known as Sea Dayaks/Dyaks. Ferocious headhunter types who lobbed off heads to prove their manliness.

James Brooke came in the 1700s and put a stop to this rather unpleasant practice. Today, the Iban people make up the majority in Sarawak. Many live in urban areas and are in government service. A number are into business while others are climbing the corporate ladder in multinational corporations. The Iban community have made their mark on Malaysian politics and a number of them have become and are still Federal Ministers.

The current Anglican Bishop of Kuching (Sarawak & Brunei Darussalam) is The Right Reverend Made (pronounced 'ma-di') Katib, an Iban who is doing a different sort of headhunting now.
