A prolific and occasionally controversial (generally for his mild fascism; bizarrely also for his perceived hippy liberalism in Stranger in a Strange Land, though by no means as often.) science fiction author. His writing spans from 1939, when his first short story was published, to 1988, the year of his death, in which To Sail Beyond the Sunset was published.
