NetGear is a brand of networking hardware (NICs, Hubs, Switches) manufactured by Bay Networks, now owned by Nortel.
The early NetGear NICs (When NetGear was its own company) were highly prized for their extremely good performance and overall "tough-ness". Sadly, when NetGear was bought by Bay Networks, they became just another manufacturer, using prefabed chipsets.
