A finding used to finish a piece of jewelry. One end of the necklace is attached to a figure eight style loop, “8”. The other end is attached to an “S” style loop. One end of the “S” is elongated and open to receive the “8”. The other end of the “S” is closed off to keep it attached to the piece.

This style works best on heavier necklaces. It should also be noted that some “S” hooks are better than others. The ones with an elongated top will stay on the neck, but if they are poorly made or out of balance with the rest of the piece they are liable to fly off at a rave and whack a stranger in the eye.
