1935 musical about a king and queen who leave their castle (taking with them their two oldest children), and go out into the world as ordinary citizens: "Mr. and Mrs. Smith"

Moss Hart wrote the script, and Cole Porter provided what is considered to be one of his finest scores. Standout songs from Jubilee, namely "Begin the Beguine" and "Just One of Those Things", were not overnight successes, but caught on over time and eventually became hits.

Produced by Sam H. Harris and Max Gordon, Jubilee opened on Broadway at the Imperial Theater on October 12, 1935. The cast included Mary Boland, Melville Cooper, June Knight, Charles Walters, Derek Williams, May Boley, Mark Plant, Margaret Adams, and Montgomery Clift. It ran for 169 performances.
