April 1:  A youth call to action and environmental demonstration day since 2004.

"This is the defining issue of our generation…We’re pissed off that the generation currently in power is making decisions that will ultimately harm our generation. There’s all this talk about keeping us safe, and our energy policies are doing everything but that."
-- Billy Parish

That quote from almost 20 years ago now is, unfortunately, still true. Coinciding with April Fools' Day, it was designed to raise awareness of the environmental concerns of continuing to use fossil fuels, to promote alternative energy sources and technologies, and to encourage support for a clean renewable energy future. The first year, demonstrations were held across the United States and Canada. Since then, activities have taken place all over the globe.

Perhaps, someday, such a day will no longer be warranted.
