In December 2020, I bought 2 books by this pair as part of my continuing attempt to read more works from a non anglosphere perspective. The books were Definitely, Maybe & The Dead Mountaineer's Inn.

Definitely, Maybe was about scientists who believed they were being attacked to prevent the advancement of their studies. There was a similar situation in The Three Body Problem by Liu Cixin. It is possible that Cixin was influenced by the book since the Strugatskiys are communist bloc literary icons.

The 2nd book is a sort of detective novel where a vacationing cop tries to solve some mysteries. The story ended up being about aliens.

I was not impressed by either book. The first book lacked a gripping plot. The second had a badly done surrealistic air. I don't think I will bother reading anything from either author again.
