A large, man-made lake on the Red River, north of Sherman and Denison, Texas. It's the twelfth largest lake in the United States. Denison Dam was built between 1941 and 1944 by the US Army Corps of Engineers for flood control and to generate hydroelectric power. Lake Texoma boasts two national wildlife refuges (Hagerman and Tishomingo), 15 campgrounds, miles of trails, and many marinas and resorts. The south shore of Lake Texoma is Texas soil, and the north shore is Oklahoma.
