- Children's dance classes, in which children between the ages of 5 and 15 are taught. Common dance styles for children's dance include ballet, jazz dance, tap dancing and Irish dancing or other folk dancing. Children's dance classes sometimes have parents in attendance, but are more likely to be used as constructive babysitters by the majority of parents.
- Social dancing where the primary objective is to meet people. Common dance styles include line dancing, swing dancing, ballroom dancing, Latin dancing, Ceroc etc. Much effort is spent generating and maintaining a low level of sexual tension.
