American
experimental music band, which uses free and structured
improvisation based around deep, focussed, meditative listening. Although they perform live with the
Expanded Instrument System, their main focus is the exploration of unique
acoustic environments, such as highly reverberant spaces, such as
cathedrals and underground
cisterns. Electronics are used to approximate some of these listening experiences.
Albums: Troglodyte's Delight (1990), The Ready Made Boomerang (1991), Suspended Music (1993), Sanctuary (1995), and their "Greatest Hits" album, Tosca Salad (1995).
Although the band invites guests from time to time, the regular members are Pauline Oliveros: accordion, Stuart Dempster: trombone, and David Gamper: piano.
