KNM Skjold(registation number P-960)
is the prototype for
norwegian navy's new
fast attack craft, the Skjold Class.
It has a
displacement of 260
tons and its two main
engines can propel the
craft to over 55
knots(over 100 km/h). The
boat is 46,9 m long and is a combination of
hovercraft and
catamaran.
The craft employs
stealth technology and
a large persentage of the craft is built of
fibre glass and
carbon laminates.
It's main
weapons is a 76mm Oto Melara Super Rapid gun
and Kongsberg New anti shipping
missiles.
