Proposed monthly
refusal of
women to work in protest of the view that
menstruation hampers women's abilities to
perform many tasks; the strike would demonstrate that women
do work by
dramatizing what would happen if they were to stop.
The strike idea was provoked by views like that of Dr. Edward H. Clarke in his 1883 book Sex in Educaton; or, A Fair Chance for the Girls.
An interesting idea, though clearly impossible to actually carry out.
