中部

Geopolitical division/region of Japan roughly in the middle of the main island of Honshu consisting of the following 9 prefectures:

It is located in central Honshu island between Kanto and Tohoku regions to the east and north, Kinki region to the west, the Sea of Japan to the north, and the Pacific Ocean to the south.

The area of Nagano and Niigata prefectures are also called Shinetsu, a combination of the old country names, Shinano and Echigo, for Nagano and Niigata respectively.

The area of Ishikawa, Fukui, and Toyama prefectures are called Hokuriku. This name comes from one of the old seven ancient roads of Japan, Hokuriku-do, but Niigata is usually excluded from Hokuriku - because it is included in above Shinetsu.

*** Depending on who or what you consult, Yamanashi prefecture is sometimes included in the Kanto region.

Chubu is written in Japanese fonts at the top of this writeup so you might experience mojibake.
