Praxis Corporation was the name of a group in
Toronto in the early 70's that specialized in organizing for social change.
Their office was on Spadina at Harbord, just north of New College, on the eastern limit of the St. George Campus of the University of Toronto.
It was broken into by the Security Services Directorate of the RCMP. At the time, this branch of the Mounties was running amok by, in addition, stealing the membership lists of the Parti Quebecois, currently the government of Quebec, and blowing up barns.
It was one of the several efforts made by some around the University of Toronto to combine their theory with action, a practice--praxis.
Sometimes, words do mean something.
