A pretty intense movie starring Ice Cube
as Doughboy and Cuba Gooding Jr.
as Tre Styles; two boyhood friends who grow up together in South Central
. The movie is actually extremely good from sociological points of view on many levels. Intermittently between its demographic draws
type stuff, it manages to talk deeply about friendship
, the hood
, and dealing with problems
. Unfortunately the name of the director alludes me at this moment, although I can clearly picture the black and white distinguished-looking portrait of him they ran in Vibe
"Either they don't know, don't show, or don't care about what's going on in the hood."
update: John Singleton
was the director, and this was his first movie.
