Davids is sponsored by Nike Football and appears in many of their adverts including their most recent, The Secret Tournament. He also was used for motion captioning by software developers Electronic Arts during the making of FIFA 2001, along with many other major names such as Paul Scholes, Thierry Henry and Gaizka Mendieta.

Recently he has been linked with moves to many English Premiership clubs including Arsenal and Manchester City as well as Serie A giants Lazio - however his club Juventus seem certain they will be able to hang onto him, and he has also pledged his future with the club in recent interviews.

Davids also faced a global ban of 2 years (which was eventually shortened and ended a while ago, with only 4 months of the ban served in total) because of use of a substance banned by FIFA, nandrolone. This meant he was not allowed to participate in competetive matches under FIFA's ruling.

Edgar Davids also suffers from acute glaucoma and has required operations on both eyes - because of this FIFA ruled that he could wear protective and sight-enhancing glasses during his matches for his personal safety.
