Verandah is the
Australian term for
porch, being the extended part of a house, covered by the
roof but open to the weather on all sides. Australians don't use the word porch -- the verandah (ver-RAN-dah) is the place to be on warm summer evenings.
break tells me that verandah in Finnish is "veranta".
