Merch is a derogatory term for
merchandise, particularly overpriced
trinkets.
The clothing designer,
Todd Oldham, once used this word to describe
Vogue magazine and other
fashion magazines, stating that they're full of "merch, merch, merch!", meaning that they had no useful or
entertainment value. Merchy
magazines often feature spreads of skirts,
blouses, and bracelets by themselves on a
barren white background.
